Totally Gross!!

Saturday we had Blake's party. It came after two, 8:00 am soccer games, so needless to say, it was a pretty busy day! But I think it was worth it. :) Slimy cake, anyone?

Barf Bags, aka goody bags.

Behold, the toilet centerpiece. I filled it with gummy body parts. Layla kept stealing it that morning and putting her baby doll on it. "They had to potty, mom!"

A jello brain...

First on the agenda was a watergun fight. We got lucky with them! We couldnt find any except for the tiny ones in the party favor section. Until a friend said she saw some at the Dollar General. So we stopped after the games, and bingo! They were marked $2, $4 and $10. I didnt really want to spend that much, but I figured it wasnt too bad. I was pleasantly surprised when they actually rang up $1.20, $1.50 and $4!

Rememeber I mentioned trying to make a paper mache nose? Well, here it is. I have already heard it looks like boobs, I know it kind of does. But it was my first attempt, I think it came out okay!

Eww.... This was just metamucil & water. The kids loved it though!

Doesnt that make you want to dig in?

Next up was even more slime. The idea was to dig in the slime and find a bouncy ball. That is, until I realized the balls float. So we started out like this...

But then we figured it was easier to do it without, I just told them to let their hands sink in and play with it for a second. It didn't take long for it to go from this:

To this:

The final activity of the day was a waterballoon fight. We filled over 200 waterballoons. I had originally planned to have them make some of the above slime (it's just cornstarch & water), but they were having so much fun I forgot all about it. You should have seen all of the adults hiding on the screen porch during all of this.

Then of course, cake & ice cream. And then presents!

Happy Birthday Buddy!
Ive added this to the 2nd Annual Party Party at My Insanity!
And the Celebration Inspiration Party over at Under the Table & Dreaming!

Breakfast at the Polynesian

Yesterday was Blake's birthday. 7 already! Where does the time go?? We decided to take him to have breakfast at Disney, since Layla did the same thing back in April. He also didnt know about it. I sent him to school that morning and picked him up a couple of hours later. For his we decided on the Ohana Best Friends breakfast at the Polynesian Resort.

He was hungry!

First we met Lilo...

And then the Mouse himself!

Cheesy picture of Mike & I.

Next came silly Stitch!

Right after Stitch came out, they had a parade for the kids led by Mickey. They all got maracas and went around the resturaunt to "Hawaiian Roller Coaster". They really got a kick out of that! Especially when Goofy came sneaking up from behind.

And then they got to meet him!

After all the fun and our bellies were full, we hit the gift shops. Had to try on some silly hats!

The Polynesian was really pretty. It would be nice to stay there someday. Maybe eventually! This was the view from outside of the Ohana on the second floor. We could see the top of Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain and the Grand Floridian.

Downstairs...

The entrance/exit at the front...

Of course they had to stop to make a wish!

(Layla wished for a "big pony")

Right now I am recovering from a very busy day of two 8:00 am soccer games and the actual birthday party. It was defiantly a Totally Gross, fun, messy good time! I have TONS of photos and a couple of videos that I will be posting soon. Right now, I am ready to relax! Hope you have a great weekend!

Feeling frazzled...

I always end up like this. I get involved in too much at once! Work has been hectic this week and all I can think about is all the things I have to get done! Soccer started this week (Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6-7:30), and Blake's birthday is coming up. I also promised a friend that I would make one of the colored pencil monograms for her teacher mother-in-law. And the Sweet & Sinister Swap! Not to mention, Open House is the same night at soccer, the next day is his birthday (we are taking him to a character breakfast at the Disney Polynesian Resort, he doesnt know it yet), and then their first game is the same day as his party! As much as I am trying to get done, I know September is going to be a busy month.

I offered Blake all sorts of suggestions for his birthday this year. Those inflatable play-places (we have two that just opened), a paint your own pottery place, the movies... But, he wanted to have it at home. And his theme?

Totally Gross. So I put my thinking cap on and got busy. I think it's going to turn out good. I havent taken a picture of the invitations yet, but I will! I am going to attempt to make a paper mache nose. The plan is to fill it with slime & bouncy balls and have them dig in. I also want to make slime (the cornstarch & water variety) and have them dig for rubber snakes in it. Then I thought I could have them make some of the very same slime. Then it's time for water balloons! I bought all kinds of bugs, rats, snakes, etc to decorate with. And I am planning on freezing some mini-spiders into ice cubes for the drinks. Oh, and I got one of those brain jello molds. I will defiantly post photos! Does anyone else have any other suggestions or ideas?

And the Sweet & Sinister Swap seems to be creeping up on me. I thought I had plenty of time, until I realized we have to mail on October 1st! So I am trying to whip that stuff out too. I think I need a day off just to craft!

Free-Rangin'

They're out...

Let's just hope they go back in!
