Meet our new kitty. She doesn't really have a name yet, we tossed around Bacon (we have a Pancake and had a Waffle, RIP). Layla calls her "Princess Kitty" and Blake calls her "Small Fry". I found her outside last week when I get out to get the newspaper. Isnt she cute?
Sunday, we went over to a friend's house. He has several donkeys, including one just born this past Saturday.
Mama is still pretty protective, but the carrots were tempting enough.
The kids had a blast feeding them. This little girl is pretty young herself and coudln't handle the big pieces.
That's Jack there in the center. He likes to be the center of attention.
I kept trying to get a picture of the new baby, but he kept head butting me to try and get the carrots.
And now for the feathers. Remember my previous post (http://wendyinflorida.blogspot.com/2008/07/winner-winner.html)? (I will figure this out one day, I promise!). Well we ended up getting two more of those eggs, exactly the same size. I cracked them this weekend. Can you guess how many yolks were in each?
Yup, only 2 each. We have only had that one triple yolker so far.
One of the Rhode Island Reds, Nanna, has been sitting in one of the nests. Unfortunatly, she isn't quite the right size for these buckets. It's a little tight.
And the biggest news from the coop? More babies! We have 6 from this batch.
For some reason, our chickens seem to like sharing buckets. We found Chicken Dinner crammed in on top of poor mama. Chicken Nugget & her friend are still sitting together, and we have two black hens that sometimes sit together.
Here are five of the newbies. The one not shown is very light yellow right now.
Here's the little yellow one, along with some of Chicken Dinner's little ones.
