I decided at the last minute to join the Beach Party, hosted by Gina at The Shabby Chic Cottage. I apologize about the less than fantastic photo quality, these were taken tonight and it's overcast outside.
The only thing beach-y I have is in my bathroom. We picked up this little boat at a local store called the Scrounge Around shop. I highly doubt it's even remotely old, but we liked it. And while I still like it, I'm not sure I want it in here anymore. I have my Syroco birds in here, as well as the little cast iron bird bath I found, so I'm not sure I want this to stay. And I'm thinking about updating it. Not sure. What do you think? I have a similar birdhouse with a chicken wire door that I thought about putting in here instead. Thoughts? Opinions?
This coral belonged to my parents... not sure where they got it, but it's real. The candle came from Pier One several years ago.
I think I bought this starfish, and the shell came from the in-laws' collection.
Hi Wendy,
ReplyDeleteLove your boat shelf and the coral. It is really beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Sandi
Your coral and starfish are really beautiful! Coral is one of my all time favorite things.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining me today!
You've inspired me to join, too...your pics weren't half-bad, actually, and your pieces are darling. Love.
ReplyDeleteI think it's so cool that you still have a couple of treasures from grade school and that you have pieces of your family's collections. The boat is a great place to display them!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute display case for your beachy treasures.
ReplyDeleteHello Wendy - what a sweet beachy collection you have! Love the sea biscuit! Thank you for sharing.

What a cute and unique little shelf. It is perfect for displaying your beachy items and it looks so cute on your counter. :)
ReplyDeleteI can relate to being anxious to update your bathroom because my bathroom use to have the same type of tile and countertop.
Love seeing your beach finds!
ReplyDelete...especially the ones from when you were little! and the ones that belonged to your family!
I love that they are in your bathroom...so dont know about changing the theme... do you have another bathroom perhaps or a separate washroom to still have the beach theme around?
Blessings & Aloha!
This is so cute! That rope draped over the piece gave me a great idea for a lamp too :D
ReplyDeleteI think a bird house would look great especially since you have some birds in there already. But, I do hope you will have a nice place to put the cute boat and it's lovely shell collection.

What a cute piece...love that you have beachy things on the shelves. The coral is really pretty! :-) Susan
ReplyDeleteP.S. Your pics are great! :-)
Hi Wendy! It's nice to meet you and thank you for popping in to see me. I like your little boat shelf! Great to know you've kept your olden things!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie and I hope you'll come back again for a visit!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I love beachy bathrooms. I really miss Florida. Love your coral, starfish and sea biscuit especially. You inspired me to join the party, thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I love the display.
ReplyDeleteI love it that you have your beach treasures in one spot. Great little boat shelf!

The coral is just beautiful and I really like the little boat. But a chance is always good, so go for the update of your bathroom and I am sure one day you will find the perfect new home for your boat (I think it could make a nice shelpunit outside too).
ReplyDeleteCute, beachy touch! We had a boat like that when we were first married, I'm trying to remember where we kept it.....I think in our bedroom but I'm not positive. I sold it at a yard sale a few years ago and the man who bought it seemed really excited! I wonder what he did with his new boat.

Thanks for sharing a piece of you. Love the coral. It tugs at my heart that you have held on to pieces of the past! Truly heart warming.
ReplyDeleteYou have a pretty collection, and the boat is a great way to display it.
ReplyDeleteLove the nautical accent!
ReplyDeleteI love that boat!
ReplyDeleteLove the little boat & the shells. I've been to Florida one time & went to St Augustine. Never been to the keys but I would love to go. Thanks for sharing your beachy decor.
ReplyDeleteThat boat shelf is so cute! I've been looking for some coral at the thrift store (I figured maybe someone would get tired of the the whole shells etc thing) but no luck. Love yours!
ReplyDeleteManuela
Thanks for stopping by! I love the little boat and obviously all the objects it holds have special meaning since you have a little memory of each. Maybe hanging on the wall? Then you could still display your birdbath?
ReplyDeleteI hear ya on the tile work in your bathroom. Believe it or not the tile in mine is baby blue and baby pink! I know, who would pick those colors?
Love that you saved all your fun trip items that mean so much for you. Cute little boat shelf. Thanks for sharing with me.
ReplyDeleteJoyce
Wendy, love how you remember where all the shells came from and the little dolphin, how sweet. Great boat shelf. Marla
ReplyDeleteI could sit & look at pretty shell arrangements all day. Most of mine have memories associated with them as well.
ReplyDeleteHappy Day :-)

I can't see the gold flakes in the formica, but I love that sea biscuit. Cute arrangement with all the shells. :) Thanks for the visit!
