Thrifting with a Friend
I have a friend that I used to work with, and every now & then, we'd spend our lunch break thrifting. Well, it's been a long time since we did that, so we decided to get together and spend a day doing just that. Thrifting. And I think it's something we'll definitely have to plan again. We hit a few different stores around town, and this is what I found.
This old desk diary from 1956. I love old books, and this one's never been used. It's from a chain of wholesale grocers.
There's a page like this for each day and they all have a different product listed.
I really like when I find an old book and I happen to like the topic. This one isn't really old, it's from the 60's or 70's. But I liked the color and the illustration on the side.
Then I found this old Shakespeare book from 1927.
I liked this vintage box of gummed stars. I just hate that the thrift wrote the price on the front of the box! So annoying.
This old Astro label maker had a roll of gold tape in it, and it works! Now I just need to find some new tape.
The clipboard was cheap, and I needed it. I'm thinking about hanging some in Layla's & Morgan's room to hang some little prints from.
I purchased this shaker to hold my bakers twine. It was $1.50. So cheap, but then I went to the Dollar Tree and saw they have them for $1. Oops!
I love vintage linens and I thought this pink was cute. Plus, this trip was before Valentine's Day, so I thought I could maybe use this for decorating.
Now, when I saw these, I wasn't sure what they were. It was folded up and taped, and I think the tape said napkin. Maybe towel, I can't remember. I just really liked the colors and pattern. When I got home and opened it, I realized there were two of them!
And then I flipped them over and discovered the original stickers still attached! They have a few yellow spots, and now I can't decide if I want to remove the stickers and wash them, or leave as is!
When thrifting, I always check the blanket section in hopes of finding a great afghan or quilt. No quilts, but this one thrift had several afghans. The tape said $5 each, so I pulled these two down and asked my friend which I should get. The guy said, how about $1 each? So I took both!
How could you pass these up for $1 each?
What about you, have you found anything good lately?
What a fun bunch of finds! I can't believe you were able to get those afghans for so little. =) That's wonderful!
