Ideas Needed!

OK, I need some ideas from you creative minds out there! I have these big (these things are BIG) Apothecary jars that I got for Christmas. Yes, I display them like all together because I really have nowhere else to put them. I've had pinecones in there, and easter eggs and then these sparkly garlands. But I was looking for something else since Memorial Day & Fourth of July are over.

I looked around the house and thought of these. These are neck tags. We found them hanging from a palm tree in the backyard by the "barn" when we moved in. The previous owners had goats. I washed them up but had to pitch a few that were in really bad shape. I think it would look better if I had a little bit more, but I can't find any online that aren't brand new. Any suggestions?

And then I remembered I had a bunch of vintage wooden clothespins that I was using to hold ribbon. That storage system wasn't working for me, so I took all the ribbon off and used them here.

What I need though, is your ideas on what to use in the middle jar, the biggest one. I can't think of anything else I have around the house that I could put in there. So come on ladies, help me out! :)

  1. I filled mine with the decorative potpourri (spelling probably wrong) that you find at Marshalls. I has big interesting things in it like seed shells and flowers. It's hard witht he big ones I think...sea shells would be nice too for summer.
    Happy treasure hunting!

  2. I have a jar like this and I fill it with vintage thread. I find the thread breaks because of the age but they are so beautiful to look at.

  3. I was going to suggest old spools of thread but I see that was already suggested. What about skeins of floss or how about that ribbon that you took off the clothespins.

  5. LOL Thread was my idea too. Small ball of yarn? Shells? Sea glass? Dried lavendar? Old millinery flowers?

  6. WOW - I LOVE these - and I love what you put in them! There are so many neat things to put in them - yarn? knitting needles? marbles? buttons? Can't wait to see what you decide!
