Today I'm joining up to Rhoda's Southern Hospitality for Today's Thrifty Treasures. Head on over to her blog to see what everyone else found! Here's my loot for the week.
I saw someone using on of these mug holders (?) on another blog, but I have no idea where. I'm going to paint it and use it in one of the kids rooms. Probably Layla's because she has so many purses.
A great oval frame to paint.
And I guess wish and you shall receive? I was hoping to find embroidery hoops for a couple projects and Saturday didnt disappoint.
I even found some oval ones I was looking for. Please excuse Possum's paws, he wanted to be included!
Found some small ones, too. This one has two tags, one is an old Walmart tag.
Check it out:
This thought this little mirror was cute. Or will be cute when its painted. Right now its ugly brown plastic that is supposed to look like wood. Sorry for the blur, apparently my camera focused on the ugly underside of the overhang on my house.
A little close up of the top. Now I just have to decide what color to paint it and where to hang it.
I also found some cute "Japan" mugs. I know you have seen these around blog-land.
I already have one like this.
Reindeer...
pulling Santa.
I would say that these 4 cups make 7 in my collection. Except one day, I came home from work, opened the door and walked in to shattered glass all over the kitchen floor. My darling cats had gotten the cabinet door opened and decided to play in it. All three of my mugs were shattered. This is what's left.
I saved the pieces thinking maybe they were fixable. I highly doubt it but I still have them anyway. And of course, my favorite one, the blue one, is in the worst shape.
Off topic now, but I need opinions. Like you may have saw in my last post, I am hanging embroidery hoops on the wall and will be putting fabric in them. I added some more last night, but am now wondering if it's too many. What do you think? Good? Too many? If too many, what should I remove?
I think it's a pleasing arrangement. Remnds me of bubbles now. Can't wait to see what fabrics you put in them. My mom still has some in her kitchen that I made in the early 80s. One had a pie, the other had the ingredients. We put white eyelet ruffles around the edge back then. I think I should update hers but she probably won't let me! LOL! She won't let go of anything. Thanks for coming by,
ReplyDeleteDawn
I love the hoops!!
ReplyDeleteThe oval frame will be great!!
ReplyDeleteI love the embroidery hoops on the wall! I wouldn't change a thing (other than adding fabric, of course!). Looks great!
ReplyDeleteLove the frames! Oval ones are hard to find, and I love all the detail on the others. (even the plastic one, I love scrolly!)
ReplyDeleteAs for the hoops, I think they look great. Put the fabric inside, then check it out. You'll know if some should come down.
I'm with the other gals, I think the hoops are looking good on the wall. Once you get some pretty fabric in them, you can arrange them on the floor till they look right. Then hang 'em up. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you got some good deals. Sorry about the mugs.
ReplyDeleteYay!!! You found more hoops. :) I love the oval ones. Great frames too. Thanks for the visit!
ReplyDeleteI like the arrangement of hoops just as it is! It's a good number and assortment of sizes. Can't wait to see them with fabric in them! How fun that you were able to find more today. That's one of my favorite things about thrifting. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the shape of that mirror!
Love the idea of the hoops with fabric, I actually have my mom on lookout for me some to do the same thing with. I saw it in the Country Living magazine. Great deals though!! And the arrangement looks great.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for the hoops, they look like polka dots. I would love to see what fabric you choose to insert in them. I also love the mirror and the frames.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog, I appreciated your comments.
You found some awsome frames! And great catch on those embroidery hoops, I have never, I mean never seen even one in a thriftshop around here.
ReplyDeleteI think you collection looks great on your wall, start adding in the fabric and see how you like it than.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog! I'm hoping to finish my tray this week. FOllow me so you can see when i Post it! &&& PLEASE fed-ex me those embroidery circles. I'm seriously IN LOVE with them! I hope to find some SOON! I need to come to yard sales in FL, because lately the ones here in MS have STUNCK! Thanks again for the comment:) Happy Blogging!
ReplyDeleteI have a similar frame that is very scrolly and I have painted it 3 times trying to find something I like.
ReplyDeleteCome for a visit.
Its So Very Cheri
I'm going to have to look for more of those hoops now too. I used them to 'frame' needlework that is in the kids' bath and ours, but I think it is time to change the 'artwork' in the bathrooms. I have some for ours that I need to get frames for and decide what is going to go in the girls' bath. Hmmm...maybe those hoops with girly fabric in them. The only time my son goes in there is to take a shower, so I guess I can girly it up now!
ReplyDeleteI love that little mirror, such pretty details!
ReplyDeleteYour frames are especially pretty! Good finds. Linda
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! I have a mug holder in The nursery fro Grahams hats, one in my guest room with vintage hats hanging on it and one in Gabbys room that she is using to hold her necklaces. I have two more that need paint then who knows where they will end up. I never knew they were for mugs, too funny!
ReplyDeleteooooh. i love that little mirror. it is so cute
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the oval frame painted. Love those mugs :)
ReplyDeleteI have discovered the strangest sort of "thrift" magic. If I write something down on my list then, with very few exceptions, I find it withing a couple of weeks. Weird huh?
ReplyDeleteThose mug holders come in handy for lots of things - especially if you have a husband like mine who thinks he has to have a whole cap collection.
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy,
ReplyDeleteSorry about the mugs..guess the cats need to be more careful when making coffee, LOL !
I love your mirror - it will be fab !
Great frames and I like the arrangement with the future wall art !
Kammy
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love all those great frames you found!
ReplyDeleteawesome deals Wendy...I really like your frames. I passed up 2 really old vintage frames today without the glass and backs on them... I think I want to see if their still there tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteLovely stuff.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the hoops go..I would remove the lower big one on the right. I thnk it drags your eye down? Maybe add one more tiny one up on the right to continue the flow?
That could all change with fabric of course LOL!
TFS!
Hi Wendy
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. I really like all the frames you got and I'll be interested to see how you use the hoops. Have a great day!
Hugs, Rhondi
You found some great items! I love that oval frame. The mirror is super cute too. Good luck with your hoop project!
ReplyDeleteSweet finds!!!
ReplyDeleteNice finds! Perhaps your broken cups could be used in a mosaic project. I've seen some beautiful tabletops and picture frames decorated that way.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking you could use three more hoops in your arrangement (two medium above one small) at the bottom ... just left of center.
Looking forward to seeing the final result!
Bill
I really like the cups you bought and I'm so sad to see that beautiful blue one broken :-(
ReplyDeleteThe hoops look good, can't wait to see them with fabric.
Please stop by and say hello.
Love all the frames and hoops you found. You did great. I would love to go shopping with so many of you in blogland. I lived in Florida for 3 1/2 years. Loved it!
ReplyDeleteI don't think there are too many hoops. I am jealous of all your cool finds!
ReplyDeleteLove the hoops idea. I scored an antique quilting hoop (really big!) and was going to put a quilt top in it that I'll probably never finish to hang on the wall. Never have, now you've inspired me to pick that up again and run with it! (smile) btw, we're practically neighbors! sweetjeanette.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping in!
ReplyDeleteI love your finds! Never seen the mugs before, but will be on the lookout now.
Love the hoops on the wall....I think the arrangement is good.
Hey! Thanks for coming by my blog to visit! I love the frames that you got! Great deal...and the mirror with a touch of white paint?? would look good. Come back to see me when you get a minute!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Susan
I am so jealous of all your hoopes. I can't seem to find them at any garage sales or thrift stores. I am sure my day will come. I love all your finds! So sad about the blue and green mug. It was a beauty!
ReplyDeleteI love that little mirror. I have been looking for something like that for my entryway.

ReplyDeleteManuela

ReplyDeleteI like them but it depends on what fabric you use. If its boldly patterned it may get too busy. I'm sorry about your cups but the new ones are so pretty to make up for it!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! Sorry about the mugs!
ReplyDeleteI think you should paint the mirror frame black!
And I think the hoop arrangement looks great!
What a fabulous idea!!!
