We LOVE peaches around here. But only Southern Peaches. No offense to any Californians, but California peaches just arent the same. Earlier this year, we discovered that the University of Florida had developed a few species of peach that dont need as much cold as other varieties, and would produce in Florida. Thankfully, we found a local nursery that carried them. It's already dropped it's old leaves and has been blooming. So now for fruit trees we have tangerine, grapefruit, orange and peach. And we also have a pecan tree.
A couple weeks ago, Mike's parents took a trip back home to New York. They mentioned stopping in South Carolina on the way home, and we asked if they would bring back some peaches, if possible. They were only able to get a half bushel, but we were still happy with that. So this past weekend I took these....
I also gave making my own baby food a try. Pretty easy!
I was wondering... would anyone be interested in participating in a Free Paint Party? I was given the suggestion of hosting something like this because of the free Glidden paint that so many of us got. I had been wanting to host a blog party, but wasnt sure what to do. I thought this was a great idea! I wasnt sure if it would be ok to call it a Glidden Paint Party, plus, just calling it FREE would include more people. So please, let me know if you would want to do something like this! Thanks!!
Wendy these look amazing! I adore peaches!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am just starving for them now! You temptress!

I am sooo jealous of your peaches. We had 2 beautiful peach trees that were 5 years old. They had been producing yummy peaches for the last few years, but were snapped in half last fall in a huge storm. I actually cried. We haven't replaced them yet. I'm sure they're not as good as southern peaches, but I sure miss them.
ReplyDeleteThe peaches look good. Now I am hungry.
ReplyDeleteYum! That looks amazing! I have to settle for grocery store peaches.
ReplyDeleteYou're my hero. I really need to start canning food...but it seems so daunting.
ReplyDeleteWhat would you do for your paint party?
Thanks for stopping by my blog, and thanks for making me crave some peaches!
ReplyDeletePeaches...yum!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to participate in a party. It would actually motivate to finally open the can and do something with my free paint!
Those peaches look fabulous! Great idea to make your own baby food. I'm super-impressed!
ReplyDeleteAnd now I'm inspired to get some painting done... sounds like fun!
Thanks for the ideas for my porch! I love fresh peaches (and canned at home!). They look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI made most of my son's baby food - I got a Beaba, and it was a lot of fun to use (it was pricey, but he's my first so I figure I can use it on subsequent children). I loved feeding him food that I had made :)
They look great, yum! I hardly ever buy peaches because I'm the only one who eats them. If I could have a tree in my yard, I would go for it!
ReplyDeleteI used to make my own baby food too, I miss those days. I'm not one that likes to cook but I really enjoyed doing that.
Thanks for coming by today. :)

Yum--I love peaches (but usually eat nectarines if I'm eating the whole fruit because I don't like the texture of the peach "fuzz" :)
ReplyDeleteYummy! I love peaches and canned some this past week. I think that if I can get my hands on one more box, I'll freeze some fresh slices for smoothies. Mmmm, mmm!
ReplyDeleteMMMM... i love Georgia peaches! I used to live in Charlotte and we'd drive down to ATL and look for the big peach by the side of the road!
ReplyDeleteThat's so awesome! I always thought I had to wait for really good peaches until we visited our fam's mountain home in GA. I can get them homegrown? Wow. : )
