I found stuff!

I needed to look for stuff for the Pink & Green swap, so I decided to stop at the thrift where I found the quilts. I guess they dont have the auctions anymore, but they had a ton of stuff, including two more quilts. I didnt get either, but one had large arrows on it, and the other was Sunbonnet Sue.

What I did get, was Jadeite! I almost jumped for joy! Lol. I have never seen this stuff anywhere locally, except for antique stores, and I am not paying those prices.

I also found an old glass insulator.

And this old Budweiser crate! Mike always says I never get him anything, so when I saw this I knew I wanted to get it. It's the first time I've found an alcohol crate. So far I have soda & fruit crates.

I was pretty sad when I looked at the back of it and saw this:

But I decided to get it anyway. For $2, why not? It will probably just be put on display anyway, and that's the back, the front looks fine.

Here's a shot of the shelf in my living room where I have the insulators.

Saturday Finds

I still haven't actually gone yardsaling, but I have been itching to go to the thrift lately. The plan today was to donate a trunk full of stuff to the catholic thrift and take a look around. But for some reason they were closed today. Then I remembered there was a big yard sale going on next to another store we like, the Scrounge Around shop. So I figured, why not? I'm glad we did, I think I found some good stuff!

Like these butterprint Pyrex refrigerator dishes!

This apothecary jar was only $1. You can always find a use for these things.

Another old doorknob for my small collection.

Mike always says I never get him anything when I go yardsaling. Well, I saw this next to the old doorknob and decided to pick it up for him. It's an old planer.

This shot is a little blurry but I didnt feel like redoing it. An old strainer that matches a lot of the other red handled stuff I have.

I also picked up this old dictionary. It's not super old (1946) but I like it and it's a good size. I figured I can use it to stack underneath other stuff.

Now for something I didnt expect to find. We went to leave this morning and for some reason I looked down at the floor near the screen door. I saw something moving so I got closer. That's when I realized it was a snake. This one was pretty small, I dont know if it was even 6 inches. He was all black except for that orange-ish mark around his neck. And his belly was the same color. This is the third snake to be in part of the house. We've had one previously on the porch and another one actually INSIDE the house. Luckally I found it and not Mike. He isnt much of a fan.

Free Junk

Do you remember the Daffodils I brought home from Virginia? Well, this is all that is left of them. This weekend, I was cleaning out the big tub that they had been in, when I found clay. All that I could salvage was this little bit. Layla thought it was pretty neat, Blake didn't seem to care much. I decided to make a little pinch pot to see if it would dry out, and it did! Pretty pathetic looking though, huh?

I always read about all the wonderful things everyone else finds sitting out with the garbage. And as much as I look as I am driving by, I never see anything but garbage! But Saturday, I finally found something! I noticed this little table sitting by the side of the road and liked the shape. So I went to get a closer look.

Poor thing hasn't had much love, as you can see. It looks like it's been kept outside, but I love the shape of the legs! It looks like it used to be an end table, the top broke off when I put it in the trunk. And the very bottom of one foot broke too. So obviously it isnt going to be used to a table! I already have an idea in mind for that smaller piece leaning up against it. No ideas for the table yet though.

Any suggestions?

Junk I've found

Since it's been so long since I posted much, I thought I would post pictures of some of the "junk" I have found since the computer crashed.

Found these fruit crates at a yardsale. They were either $1-$2 a piece, I cant remember.

Another shot of the crates and a Pyrex bowl.

My Pyrex bowl, 2 recipe tins & a cookie cutter.

Not junk, but I love her! We "found" her on Halloween night. One of the houses was giving away kittens and candy. Her name is Pumpkin. We had to keep with food theme of our cats names. We also have Waffle and Pancake. We thought about Bacon for her, but since we got her on Halloween, and she's orange, we chose Pumpkin. We mostly call her P.

This is some of my Halloween decorating. I made the cauldrons , I found the broom at Michaels for less than $2, the vine pumpkin came from Target.

I found this desk at the charity thrift store down the road for $3. I'm sure it isnt THAT old, but I like it anyway.

These also came from the same thrift. My first piece of matte white pottery. I have it on a shelf in our hallway with some beads hanging over the edge. The books are also stacked on that shelf. And I have the jar in the bathroom with bars of soap in it.

I hit the motherload of mason jars! We found all of these in one of the sheds out back. 117 in all.

We found these in the same shed. I am in the process of fixin this chair up. We are painting it and I got some fabric and foam to re-do the seat. The jars have already been painted white, and the ice cream churn is in our room holding rolls of wrapping paper for now.

Another shot.

That's it for now. I will have to get around to taking some photos of the other stuff around here.
