Feathered Friends & a Dilemma!

I am participating in two blog parties, the first one is the Feathered Friends Party by Gina @ The Shabby Chic Cottage. Check out this link to see more great birdies :)
This is my side table in the living room.

Gotta love Michael's clearance!

I found this little guy, and two of his friends, at a yardsale a couple months ago.

I just love this little bluebird! Another yardsale find. The books are from the thrift, and the yellow pottery is a piece of McCoy pottery I dug out of the back yard!

Remember these guys?

And the other set. Ignore the electronics! My living room is in a state of disorder at the moment.

I ended up putting my chippy birds in the bathroom.

And my Syroco-like birds, too.

What do you think, are they noticeable enough? That's not an acurate example of the shade of blue on the walls, but they dont seem to pop. What do you think?

The second party I am joining is the Decorating Dilemma party, hosted by Amanda at Serenity Now. Check out this link for more dilemmas!

My dilemma is my living room. I was originally planning on using this, and then I got a new dilemma. We had a LARGE entertainment center. 6.5 feet wide and 5 feet tall. But that's gone now, thanks to the edition of a MASSIVE tv. The entertainment center wasnt pretty, but it held a ton of dvds, the Wii, the PS2 and tons of games. Now with this monster, we didnt know where to put anything. (the kids were watching iCarly!)

We ended up putting my cedar chest here, and putting the games inside. The consoles will go inside when we get a chance. You can see all the stuff still piled on top of the tv.

This is what we have on the other walls so far.

I know, this is probably a little busy.

So, how does it look? I know that wall is a massive blank space. It's funny though, as I was taking these photos, we decided to hang some embroidery hoops on the wall. I had been wanting to do it, but hadnt gotten around to it. So this is what we've started with. I've got to find some more a the thrift/yard sales. And decide on some fabric.

How does it look so far? Any suggestions? Does it look weird having that big tv over there? You cant totally tell, but the computer desk is to the right. I am up for any suggestions or ideas!

Here's a close up of the cedar chest. It needs a little love! Paint? Re-staining?

Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to check out the hostess's blogs! :)

I have a similar blue bird I recently bought at a thrift store. I forgot to include him, poor guy! I've got the same dilemma, hubby brought home a big new tv (at least they're flat now!) and the table we were using with all the storage won't work now. I'm still searching for the right piece!

Your little blue bird is just precious. Cannot believe you found that piece of pottery buried in your yard! What a find, Wendy.

Hi Wendy - I love all your birdies - As a collector of McCoy, I can't believe you dug that piece up in the yard!! What a great story!

I love the idea of painting that cedar chest. You could choose accent colors from the room. I would paint the diamond on the front a contrasting color to draw attention to that detail. Then possibly stencil that shape onto the top, or something like that.

I don't think the shelf looks to busy, I love it with all the bottles and stuff!

The embroidery hoops look great, but I think you need one more really big one on the bottom of the arrangement.

Have you ever considered painting your cedar chest a fun color that coordinates with your decor?

I have the little Michaels' birds. Got mine 40% off, but not on clearance. I don't know about the furniture. I can't decide what I'd put where!

Hi Wendy...

I love all of your little feathered friends...I have the same little birds from Michaels...mine were half-priced and I've gotten alot of decorating milage out of them! Hehe! I love the chippy little bird in your bath...so cute!

Well my friend, those big ol' TV's do present a decorating dilemma at times! I still have my smallish TV in an entertainment center much like the one you just got rid of! I love the cedar chest idea...to use for games, etc. I love your wall shelf and I don't think it's to busy at all! But then I'm a "more is better" kind of gal! hehe! I wish you the very best in all of your decorating endeavours! Enjoy!

Thank you for sharing your little feathered friends with us today...I enjoyed your post!
Warmest wishes,
Chari

My hubby would kill me, but I like the idea of painting the trunk. :)

I saw that you have a bunch of embroidery hoops. I did a post about those a few Fridays ago. I've seen them online recently as "frames" for fabric. Maybe choose a few coordinating fabrics and use the hoops to frame them. Instant art! You could even hang the washboard on the wall with them!

I bet if you raised your curtain rod up a few inches, it would add some height.

The photo with the four white framed family portraits: Love white frames!! Maybe try hanging the big one just barely above eye level. The one that hangs vertically could be centered under it with the the horizontal ones on either side of it. The "B" could rest on the very top frame, off to the side like you have it in the photo. :)

It looks like your white shelf is pretty high. I bet you could hang a couple of cute signs by ribbon on the wall underneath it.

I think you have some great pieces...also love the birdies (I have the same one from Michael's)

Thank you so much for linking up to my party! :)
